All men were made by the Great Spirit Chief. They are all brothers.
~Chief Joseph, Nez Percé

Rainbows…the rainbow has no colored borders, only a beautiful blending into the neighboring hue. My blood…your blood is blended...the Creator's blood is the color of rainbows...He created all man from that one divine DNA. So when Creator sees you, no matter what color of race is written on your birth certificate or how you see yourself, He sees a beautiful part of Himself. The next time you look at a rainbow just remember the color that has been picked by man to represent and segment your race, is really a feeble human attempt to understand a creative eternal expression. Our various cultures are much more complex and beautiful than stagnate coloring inside predefined lines and borders. And just like a rainbow, the variables of atmospheric conditions can shift and bring about brilliant changes within each sovereignly set value.

So today look in the mirror and know you are no random mistake of man's manipulation, but instead you are a colorful preconceived gift to the earth of uniqueness & value from the Creator. Live your life in full color that reflects the Creators light, not inside black & white boundaries birthed out of man's dark prejudice!

Born in Michigan, raised in Carlsbad, NM in a family who loved to dabble in all kinds of crafts, I was encouraged from an early age to try new things.  After degrees in Biology and Chemistry and Occupational Therapy, the artistic side of me demanded a larger voice.  When I returned to Carlsbad, I began taking art classes offered at the local branch college of New Mexico State:  drawing, pastel, watercolor, and oil.  I first took the classes somewhat on a dare, but quickly discovered that I absolutely loved it and took as many as I could.

A few years later, a friend asked me to take a weekend class with her taught by
Helen Gwinn in which I discovered the wonders of acrylics and collage.  I was blessed to be able to study with both Helen and Lynette Watkins four times in Italy where I added many new techniques to my repertoire and was greatly influenced by the instructors and fellow classmates as well as the cultural heritage and natural beauty of Italy.   A profound impact on my work that I am just beginning to fully explore, is the history of art in the church that you see all over Italy.  For many, these paintings were the only Scriptures that they were able to “read”.  I am exploring the ways and means that this might be true today.

My technique involves multiple colors, layers and techniques to generate depth, richness, texture, and energy that invite one to interact with the piece as elements are revealed to the eye.  My work tends to reflect some aspect of my life at the time and is an expression of worship to the Artist of all Creation to Whom I owe my everything.  It is my hope and prayer that my work imparts a sense of Peace into the atmosphere in which it is hung and into the person by whom it is viewed.  And, just possibly, elicit a desire within the viewer to set out on an exploration themselves.
